On this week’s episode we have an in depth conversation with our first official guest, Mark Cruz (music production; QSTN; art & design: unknowndocument.com). He is a multidisciplinary creative that has had much success in radio, music production, and for some time now, art and design. In this interview Mark gives some great insight about his journey from DJing on top-rated radio mixshow, to sustaining a freelance career in graphic design, and then onto being the Product Art Director for Nixon.

Mark shares the nuances of his successful career consisting of many natural networking moments that stemmed from real relationships.  This pushed him to always return the favor of mentorship to others coming up in an industry that has gradually shifted from the creative being a “unicorn” with diverse talents, to those same creatives now becoming the standard.

Mark’s story gives a great depiction of the conflicts that many  multidisciplinary creatives face; whether it’s deciding what direction they should focus their energy on or maneuvering what jobs to take; Mark talks about synthesis between passion in his crafts and focus in specific creative disciplines toward truthful self-expression and a quality product.

Some of Mark’s clients included:

Billabong
Gumball3000
Universal Music Group
New Balance

Just to name a few...
